The Consumption Prediction API provides a forecast of energy consumption (electricity or gas) for a site over a specified period. The prediction is based on the site’s historical consumption data, and in certain cases, on weather forecasts. The API supports two different strategies for the consumption forecast calculation.
Prediction Strategies
Estimation After Real Consumption
If actual consumption data for the site exists for the requested period, these real consumption values will be used. The forecast will only be made for the remaining part of the period where no consumption data is available. This is useful when part of the period has already passed, for example to forecast the site’s consumption until the end of the current month.
Estimation For Full Period
The forecast is made for the entire requested period, ignoring any actual consumption data that may exist for the site during this time. This strategy is ideal when the forecast is needed for a past period, as it simulates what the consumption would have been without considering the actual existing data.
Prediction Period
Users can specify the start and end dates for the prediction, and the API will return the total predicted energy consumption and cost for the entire period.
The prediction can be made for a maximum period of 31 days.
Eligibility Criteria for Prediction
To be eligible for a prediction, the site must have daily consumption data for a certain number of days before the start of the requested period. This ensures the forecast is based on reliable historical data.
Example
Here is an example request for an electricity consumption prediction over a month, considering the site’s real data consumption that may exist during the month:
